Special Educational Needs (SEND) Classes

Everyone can cook

At AlphaBake, our aim is simple; to achieve life changing results in the kitchen. We help people of all ages and abilities to get hands-on and discover a love of cooking that will last them for life.

Our award winning, step-by-step approach is designed specifically to do away with all the complicated bits of cooking, meaning we can deliver really enjoyable and successful workshops to a whole range of different people. Our experienced tutors are able to give participants confidence in themselves and their abilities, by teaching skills for life and nurturing a genuine interest in healthy food.

Life changing partnerships

Over the years we have built great relationships with some amazing charities, including Essex Community Foundation, Enable East and Family Mosaic, along with some large corporate organisations including Premier Foods.

Through these fantastic partnerships we have successfully delivered life-changing workshops to young people in Pupil Referral Units (PRU’s) – many of whom have gone on to continue their education at catering colleges - as well as vulnerable adults, including homeless and ex-addicts.

Our 6 week programme includes cooking healthy meals using fresh ingredients and, where appropriate, learning how to manage a food budget and to plan and shop efficiently for food.

Learning Disabilities – SEN

Learning Disabilities – SEN

We regularly run workshops through charities, such as Mencap, helping students with learning disabilities to also experience and enjoy cooking.

Cooking can be used as a sensory experience for those who are less able or mobile. It can also be used to help improve motor skills and co-ordination.

With the understanding and support of our experienced tutors, we deliver relaxed workshops in a supervised and safe environment. By preparing simple, healthy recipes every student gets to experience a range of different tastes and learn vital kitchen skills.

It is always a delight to run these group workshops, but we can also offer private sessions for people who find it difficult working in a group environment.
